The work below are my first few pieces last year when I was looking at the westernisation of japanese culture.
im not pleased with the outcome of these pieces but i think there are some nice elements! the forms are a take on Inro's, japanese boxes that are hung of the belt, they were intricately decorated with events and stories of the time. it was my contemporary take on it.
At least I tried....

all of them. the red colour in these pieces is lustre. so when fired the work would have gold embellishment.

below.

the work I have posted up are some photos I had of the work I did last year. It was based on my travells to california for a few months! the form the work took was based on a beaded bracelet. The beads represent seperate events, places and people, all formed together into an overall experience.
My work is always based on surface and i was working mainly with monoprinting.
this year I am using other methods but I still have a fondness for the simple lines you get with the mono printing technique.
Also got to go a bit crazy with the lustre....
